duty on R/C from US
Anyone know what the duty rate is on a RTD kit out of the states? Or is there duty applicable to radio control? Kit price is around 450 USD

RTD?? Sorry, I meant RTR kit

Depending on how its shipped.
If it gets mailed to you via USPS then canada post will charge you the GST/PST plus the $5 handing fee. If its shipped via something like UPS or Fedex you will be charged the GST/PST and there brokerage fee's which i have been billed upto $30+ dollars. I ordered a $30 Lipo off ebay a while back and the guy shipped it UPS and i had a $42 bill to pay when i picked up the lipo at the depot.. :( |
Costs at the border for "duties" works out basically the same as paying gst/pst on the purchase AND SHIPPING price, they actually charge us take on shipping....what BS that is. Also becareful you don't get dinged with brokerage fees that can be crazy if the carrier doesnt use their own brokerage.
If you live near a border your best bet is to find a mailbox/shipping company on the US side and ship to there and bring it over yourself. |

Ya I know the "support the local shop" thing. I'm checking a local shop now. You know of any shops that carry the Kyosho brand? I'm looking for the Inferno GT2 kit.
