Measuring static current draw on a new airplane setup is always a very good idea (I would say MANDATORY). It instantly shows if there is any problem with under/over current and shows how much power is being consumed which is closely related to how the model will fly.

In very general terms, the general observation so far is that LiPos do not fare well if the continuous current draw is more than about 70% of the rated continuous current for the battery. I.E. A 10C pack is the optimistic rating for a pack that is 7C in the real world. How much this varies from manufacturer to manufacturer is anyone's guess.
