With some hard case tires like the street tracks , you do not have to use foams.

It is not practical to cut foams that thin, and near impossible to cut them evenly. The rim and tire combo you have is an exception and you should not use foams.Another tire that does not use foams is the Medial Pro Rally IAS. It is ribbed and supports itself , it works with normal rims, and is for onroad use (buggy- street)
