the machines are high horsepower for a go kart. they got torque converters which are automatic transmissions. if the karts ran without governors you could easily do a burnout on dry pavement and go very fast. but they are governed to make the engines last longer and so people dont kill themselves.
you can bring your own helmet but it has to be DOT approved.
