Re: Ron Chapman Laser 200 C of G
Hi . Have owned and flown a number of Ron's designs and pretty much balanced as he advised . Have built a couple as well but not the Laser. We always balanced them around 28 % (?) as they all had the same airfoil .It usually worked out as I recall on the rear side of the wing tube .The idea was they would fly upright and inverted without any nudge of forward stick inverted . On landing approach they would hold the approach attitude with little or no correction once established . I recall on one occasion at a big bird bash in Kingston years ago I was flying around upright and inverted pretty much hands off and the person watching beside me asked if it was a Ron Chapman design .That was typical of his stuff .Ron and I flew together for many years and I really like his design philosophy . I even won a Best Show at a gala with a Ron Chapman Sukhoi that was no lightweight with a Quadra 50 in it . It was about 100" (I think) but that airfoil would just hang in there . That was when scale aerobatics were scale , not 3D . It would 3D I guess with 100cc in the nose . Hope this helps .Cheers , Barry .
