Again, the cowl ring method causes me to think it will stop/hinder the free flow of air out the rear gap.

Therma-cowl? Nah, it's the ABS type that comes with the TF 1/8th Corsair. I have to say I do like that idea though. The only issue is actually constructing a cowl with those types of hinged plates to work with the electronics.
