NIMH batts can explode just as easy as Lipo, I dont know of anyone personally that has had a lipo burst into flames like the test videos, more often then not they just puff up and never hold a charge again, but I know of people who have had NIMH batts pop, people that have many many years experience, neither are fun and both cause damage, if you are worried about it get LiFe batteries, they are probably the safest batteries out there,
another thing to think of, Lipo's have been used in cell phones, laptops and other personal electronics for years and you never had a problem using them in those cases?
