The covers are grease seals as the brgs. are in grease for self lubrication. You could leave them on but at our high rpm it would be better to remove, clean,lightly oil and install. I remove mine with a pick which you can pry up an edge and take them off. The fuel has all the lubrication you require. Just don't get carried away and scratch a ball or race. Then you need a new one.
