"inclinometer" for measuring angles

I remember reading here about a way to measure aileron/elevator throws using some tool but can't remember what was used.

Lee Valley has an "inclonometer" for sale at $24.95 (reg $34.95) that can do this (I am satisfied with using a pin and a ruler--an inch of up elevator for example to ensure both sides are even when full up is done) but for those who aren't, there's this item

I don't know how it compares to the other way mentioned (in the thread I can't find).
