Onlybatteries.com sent out another email today. They have reduced more stock to 50%, including 9.6V and 4.8V battery packs! They have a
9.6 Volt AA 2000 mAh NiMH Battery Pack with "hitec connector" ($14US) which I'm sure would be perfect for a tx, only I have no idea how to go about charging NiMH... Can I just use the wall charger that came with the Tx? (I'm seriously a battery idiot here...)

There are also some 4.8V packs for as low as $6US, but they don't have our connectors. Are these connectors easy/cheap to come by?
