A well tuned engine is key, of course. But if there are problems with pressure buildup in the cowl that dynamically change the tune of your engine in flight, they can't be corrected by static tuning on the ground.
I just don't want people to think this is necessary or even "proactive" on most engines. Well tuned carbs will eliminate most problems, especially with Walbro carbs. I strongly suspect that most people who think they have static pressure issues likely either don't have the engine tuned properly, need to replace stiff or torn diaphragms, reset the metering needle lever height, or even check lever spring tension. IMO putting film canisters in fuselages won't solve these other issues.
