For software, you should be able to get it right from Hitachi's website. Here's a link to their download page. http://dvdcam-pc.support.hitachi.ca/en/download/dl.asp

Also try Windows Movie Maker. It should be part of your Operating system if you are running Windows XP. I didn't pay for it, and I didn't steal it, so it must have come with it
