Here's how I do mine.

1. Soakthe alloy in drain cleaner. That will remove the anodizing.
2. Once the color has been removed, the alloy will be dull.
3. Get an aluminum polish like mothers metal polish and use a dremel with a buffing attachment and just keep buffing. You'll get a really nice shine once you're done.
