As in all fields of commercial endeavour that is quite true - and in the hobby field such is largely promoted by competitiveness on the international and national flying fields by consumers, no matter what their specific interests might be. That in itself spurs on further development by manufacturers to capture or retain a lead or standing in demands for higher performance, quality, reliability, etc., which all spin off to the eventual benefit of sport flyers.

A positive interest in promoting and funding competition in all its aspects would, in due course, further benefit all
Taking everything you say at face value with no counter response, FAI is a small part of the overall competitive scene. (as you previously state)

....why then does the FAI flyers within our association deserve individual additional financial benefits over any other one member? Everyone plays their role, but you advocate a bit extra for certain individuals?

And that is the sticking point.

Why not eliminate individual perks and promote discretionary funds being used to support events within Canada? Perhaps those funds would promote additional completions, involving more members...........where you could hit up those with a true interest to open their wallets to donate to the "elite" of that particular discipline to send them wherever their skill and desire might take them?
