Low C rate

The cells may be alright in a low C application, say 5 to 8. The ones that you feel are toast may also come back if charge at a very low rate say 100 mah. The pack in the PC probably got out of balance as they don't utilize balanced charging, at least not any any laptop old enough to end up in the scrap bins at work. I've salvaged a few batteries over the years, but don't forget to keep them in a fire resistant location while checking them out and charging them (Terracotta planters etc.)
