Remember that the Dollar Store (Dollarama, Loony Lizard, etc.) does not buy the premium stuff and it may not be all that fresh. "You get what you pay for".

However, for a quick repair or a bit of work in a non-structural item, I'd go for it.

Ahead of these stores is picking up "Hot Stuff" from Lee Valley Tools, then the stuff from the LHS.
