I make up my own battery packs. I use the Sanyo 2700 nimh batteries. I cycle them individually before I assemble the packs. They have worked fine for me and I get good life out of them. Used to be 2300 and 1500. As Sanyo made bigger battery capacity I just kept buying the biggest AA capacity. They have been @ 2700 for about 3-4 years now so that may be the limit.

I buy them at my LHS and they go thru lots of them so they are always fresh.
