IMHO Brendan hit the nail on the head. The solid black lines and dashed red lines are the real indicators. If you'll notice the previous maneuver is a one turn positive spin....looks to me like they put the cross box humpty there to give you the chance to either move your plane closer or further out if it moved too far or too close after the spin.

This is the first year I have actually practiced the new sequence on the sim and it really helps. I don't have that much time to practice with the real thing sometimes so i find it really helps to have the maneuvers down pat before you go to the field instead of spending a few flying sessions just learning the sequence.
