Re: Funtana 91

I've recently acquired same, does fly great for sure. I had some issues with elevator flutter, left side, so decided to remove horizontal stab, balsa was very soft, and starting to show some damage, so rebuilt it, better balsa, used monokote hinges along entire length of both, and also reinforced the area of the elevator joiner with 1/4 oz cloth/CA. Negligable weight gain, but extremely strong, and no chance at flutter. I have completely wrung the aircraft out several flights since, and love the handling.

Low rates, it could almost be a second aircraft as a low-wing trainer, high rates, and it's hilarious. It's the only ARF I own, being a kit/scratcbuilder at heart, but this one was worth it. I upgraded a lot of the hardware, but just my preference. I'd highly recommend this aircraft.
