Just to add my 2 cents worth:
A 3 HP engine at 24K rpm develops exactly the same amount of torque as a 1.5 HP engine at 12K........probably about what a good .60 normally does? So if it's engine torque that causes the problem, a pylon racer should behave the same in this regard as any sport .60
