I noticed that if I do purchase a power supply that I/ll have to cut the alligator clips off and attach other banana type connectors so that it can be plugged into the power supply. I don't like cutting wires on newly aquired equpiment. Will I be damaging the charger if I cut the alligator clips off?
Nope you won't be damaging it at all. Do you know how to solder ? if not, do you know any one else that can solder on the connectors for you ?

What batteries are you going to be charging with this ?
