Add oil to the crankcase before starting. Stand on it's nose to get oil to the front of the crankcase. Then run first tank of fuel at 30:1. Run the excess oil out by running. Then you know the front bearing has never run in a poor lubricated state. Tune the needles to run best, not excessive rich. Run the first 10 Litres at 32:1, with oil of choice. Like Jeff, watch your heat cycles. Not long high heat cycles in the beginning. Getting progressively longer.
Or, as a part of my hobby, I like to run them in on a stand, watching the heat cycles. until it gets to the point of needing to be leaned on the low needle, say the 8-10L mark.
