The "boys" and I had a couple spare hours this afternoon, so I sanded the fuse sheeting and then Caleb and I finished up the left fuse side.
A few mods that I've done on my 43% Volkswagen CF Edge and applied it to Brent's build....
1) Instead of 1/8" light ply blocks for the wing bolt hardpoints, I cut out some CF plate (lighter, more stiff, more bling)
2) The rear plate extends further back with a 3/8" hole... this will be where the eventual antirotation pin for each wing will stick through. Benefits are a cleaner look and less weight vs the normal hardwood donut.
3) The plans call for a hardwood block in between the vertical sticks at each wingbolt. I made up a balsa block, because the CF Plate is much more stiff.
4) I drilled holes and added some diagonal 2mm CF rod in a few of the high stress areas. The rods also stiffen the stick glue joints (pins the joint)
