Actually pattern is quite slow, we get T:W ratios up to about 1.5:1 - 2:1 on a regular basis. They are slow because we throttle back, we have radared a modern pattern plane full throttle downwind at around 110 mph, these are large high drag planes. With some tweaks to the wings/stab, and propellor change there is no reason we could not go over 150 mph, still not 200, but the point is its not hard to make a plane go fast should you have the desire.

At any rate you cannot impose a thrust to weight limit of 1:1 on models, that would be broken by everyone flying aerobatics, an no one would follow it. How can I compete internationally when I am limited in thrust I can generate and people in other countries are not.....?
