Key words failing to pop

I have done a lot of winter flying! The first thing to try is a propane torch. Warm the head and cylinder, warm is fine. I use a 2V battery with a germanium diode in series or two nicad cells with a silicone diode in series. I found that those single nicad cells just did not have enough power in cold weather. The internal resistance of the diode drops the voltage to a reasonable level. If it fails to continue running after it starts there are two reasons. 1. The plug is not hot enough. 2. You need more nitro. I also found that fuel stored in plastic containers deteriorated a lot faster than when stored in metal containers. Of course some fuels are made with second rate alcohol. Hope this helps. Kip
