BGG I couldn't agree more. Electric rc's are great to run. And for those nitro guys, the electric class is also a much easier second class to run because of the no muss no fuss aspect.
Take into account also with the better batteries and motors, the lectrics can have a little more track time to entice them in as well.
RC Pro series rules allow brushless motors in mod and brushless class. stock is stock. and with the 2wd trucks and lipos, theyu have been allowing a 20 min main!
we have allready started working on the electric series here in BC and this is good because a lot of new guys will get involved into the hobby to race their electric trucks, buggies and 4wd buggies.
I started racing about 20 years ago running electrics. the old novice class. when we won a couple events, we had to race stock class, then to mod with the good guys hehe. there wasn't any 8th scales or monster trucks, just electric and gas trucks 1/10 scale.
as time progressed, the guys saw you got a lot more racing with the nitros than the electrics and opted to just run nitros. this is why the class has been dying more every year. so if we give them something to make it fun and worthwhile (we as racers and clubs, forget what series) then we should be able to attract more back into the class again.
I think 10 min mains for brushless truck for the series and we can discuss the 20 mins for the finals if the numbers warrant. eventually we will have a 20 min main.
5 min qualifiers for everything electric and nitro, and 6-10 min mains with a 20 min main final? how could that not make you want to race an electric again? The talks locally have been real positive on electrics and about a dozen guys have allready picked up electrics to race this week. I'd say that is a positive response
