Cool Indoor Pylon racing Q100....

this is my experimental Q100 that i plan on flying in arenas/ triple gyms or soccer domes. Test flight will be out doors to give me lots of room to trim and get used to it.

This is basically a scaled down Q500 to 1/5th in size (500 to 100 sq inches) it was fun to builld, and I had to come up with a few things to make a micro vtail work off 1 servo. Also, the wing is permanent, so that servo in stall was tricky... but this is my first attempt at this thing and the next ones should have micro servos that are linear and lighter. The motor set up is from the Sbach micro from E-flite. 2500 kv motor, with a e-flite 5amp esc. and a 4025 prop... im not a techy guy, so cant tell you outputs or anything. all running on a 7.4 2s 200mah lipo... flying weight is 2.9 oz. so it hasn't maidened yet (winter weather), but im pretty sure it will be what i expect... fast

the fuse is cell foam, and the wing is a mixture of EPP/ cell foam and balsa. I laser cut a liteply spar and ribs but found it was to heavy and replaced with balsa spar re-inforced with small carbon rod (1/16") and CF ribs.... skinned with 1/16 epp hollow balsa wing tips and balsa leading edge/ailerons.

Here some pics, could be the start of a new class ... Build what you want but keep it at 100 sq inches, and that motor combo. 2-3oz... we can meet and race.

Re: Indoor Pylon racing Q100....

well had the maiden today... it went pretty good. it was a bit tail heavy and the first few circuits were pitchy and not alot of fun... so I got her on the ground, and played with some nose weight. Second run was a lot better... trimmed it again, and was still pretty sensitive... so tried one more flight with the Elev D/R dialed out another 10% and went up again... now im grooving with confidence... it handle really nice and I was flying it like any other plane... thanks dad for all your help.... i will fly it indoors. heres the proof!
