I have done most of everything over the years and I find with the CA hinges I finish all the painting including the trailing edges. No tape. After it hardens I mark the hinge and slice into it with the exacto. Insert the hinges and glue. If you don't get carried away and hog out the slit the CA wicks in very good. For insurance you can flip it over and put a small pin in the bottom.
