Roy Andrassy of Calgary has claimed the top spot for the Quarter 40 pylon racing season in North America. Roy placed 1st in the NMPRA points race beating out over 80 other competitors from around the world as the top pylon racer.

Others from Canada did well this year as well with Randy Smith and Doug Houston both of Calgary claiming 6th and 10th spot. Canadians from the CPPRA (Canadian Prairie Pylon Racing Association) took 30% of the top 20 positions of the NMPRA (National Pylon Racing Association).

Congratulations Roy and all of the go fast guys.

Racing is alive and well in North America, the 2014 season starts in February 2014 in Phoenix Arizona with a dozen flyers from Saskatchewan and Alberta making the trip to take on 80 pilots from around the world at this season opener.

Note;
Quarter 40, or AMA 422 class is the fastest NMPRA event held where 4 pilots race head to head around 3 pylons. These planes fly in excess of 300KPH wing tip to wing tip. These planes use special 40 size racing engines and composite moulded fuselages and wings built to withstand the high G forces required for this type of racing.

If you are interested in racing the Calgary CMPRA club hosts races throughout the year (all year) snow or sunshine, leave a message and we will let you know how to get started.
