Dont take the spring off,,,,,,,,cut the hook or simply unhook it and leave it there to space the shaft from the carb body and combat vibration.
Its hard to imagine why you have to put the throttle cable through such torture without seeing the installation.Frankly 90o bends are not the way to go and is probably going to cause very uneven and unpleasant throttle response, and if the link kinks or comes loose you will be flying around trying to burn off fuel and hoping your RX battery lasts.
Move the servo, drill holes ,use bellcranks but make sure that throttle moves smoothly IMO.

I want to also use this post for a question on conversion. Yabut brought over 2 engines yesterday and after I looked at them, found they are reverse rotation. My question is has anybody retimed them buy mounting the coil on an alum plate and moving it on the flywheel : I have a degree wheel so the measurments can be done. Also what advance do they usually have. I will take some pictures later but they are rear exhaust with the mufflers held on by springs. Also the carb is on the base of the crankcase.

John,
I think most fixed timed engines are at the 18 to 22 degree BTDC firing mark (for a compromise of decent top end and a livable idle). When you have adjustable timing, you can go from a few degrees BTDC for a good idle to about 28 to 30 degrees BTDC for max power.

Andrew,
Thanks for the info. Just took a couple of pictures of one and it hasn't even been cleaned up. They shouldn't be to hard to convert and I can use a sheet mount because the lugs are on the back. I spent a few hours on my Homelite 46 making a mount.
