I'll bet the other vultures came over to eat it. They were not offering it encouragement but waiting for it to die. It would have been the right thing for the people there to put it out of its misery. They might have, just did not record it but it should have been done right away. The airframe was not suffering or getting any worse.

Hey my friend, you've got that right. Did you know that if you don't have a proper will made out, appointing an executure, the government becomes the sole executure of your estate, freezing all assets until they get good and ready to sort it out leaving your family high and dry until they do....which could take weeks even months??? And dare I say what will happen if you owe any back taxes??

Sheesh...maybe the vultures have it all figured out, they, as you say, just eat their dead. Talk about a thourough and easy dispensation.

I fly with the Birds regularly, an without hassles.
It depends on how you treat them.
On the slope my friends and I regularly fly with seagulls and Ospreys without conflict. A couple of years ago we had the gulls so tame they would land and walk around amongst our models. One guy had gulls take pizza right out of his hand. In the latter part of the summer, the young gulls would actually fly in formation with our gliders and copy every turn.
I was even able to do 60 ft diameter circles around a hovering osprey without disturbing it.

Even with powered electrics, birds will quickly adapt. Gulls, pigeons, ospreys and eagles will willingly share the airspace. This past weekend I shared a thermal with an eagle. I am attaching a shot from February last, with my Eyespy Photo plane soaring with an eagle.

I also have an electric EPP Eagle which attracts birds anytime I fly it. Hawks, eagles, ospreys and gulls regularly come around and after half a minute to a minute of investigation, go on their way...
It all depends on your attitude.

I once had a run in with an eagle, wile flying Full Scale!
I was on the down wind leg in the circut, when I spotted an eagle at about 1 o'clock high. I said to my sister, who was out flying with me to take some photo's "look, an eagle,...wow he's close....whoa......HOLY $H1T!!!!and "CLANG".

He dove at the plane as we passed, and only just missed coming through my windshield. he impacted the vertical stab, and his fate is still unknown.
After a quick flight control check, I went on to an uneventful landing. There was no damage to the plane, but a few inches lower and I might not be telling this story.

A few weeks later I was reading in the COPA mag that eagles are teritorial and have been known to attack small planes.
Now they tell me!
