I would think that your work history would be pertinent to include if it related to the position you were nominated for.

As an example:

You might be better qualified for the insurance committee if you worked as a claims adjuster.

Or if you spent a number of years being responsible for safety you might be a suitable candidate for the safety committee.

Re: MAAC magazine PAINS !

On something like the insurance committee, yes, work history would be valuable too.

As with job applications, you tailor your resume to the job you are applying for.

I was just trying to say that resumes collected for committee chairs were more and/or different than a typical job application resume.

Re: MAAC magazine PAINS !

What we have here is a scenario whereby 2 or three people might be nominated and seconded, they submit resumes, which now leaves the door open to have all of them rejected! because our hobby has nothing to do with golf balls, or you don't have work experience to be an unpaid volunteer.

Yet if only one person was seconded, that would be ok!

Re: MAAC magazine PAINS !

Last time I checked, golf balls have lots to do with our hobby. They are made of coposite materials. They have dimples to reduce drag and increase distance. Golf courses (where golf balls are often used), are a collection of long open grassy areas very similar to flying fields.

The comments expressed by myself are based on my own personal experiences.

Re: MAAC magazine PAINS !

Sarcasm? No, not really. Dry humour, yes.

It's very hard to find volunteers for committee work. Heck, it's hard to find volunteers for anything involving work. The idea behind selecting a committee chair is to find the best candidate for the job based on the information submitted. Someone on the committee has to chair, so you can't reject everyone.

Back to the original thread. The opinions expressed in the electric column were based on the authors personal experience.

Sometimes to get discussions going on this board people will state their positions with rather strong language. Further down this thread both sides kinda met in the middle.

I've flown glow and I've flown electric. There are advantages to both.

Just recently I made the transition from nickle metal hydride to lithium polymer. Therefore my personal experience with cycles per pack is far too limited to be statistically significant.

60 bucks for a 3s 2100 mAh pack equals 3 gallons of glow fuel at 20 bucks a gallon. If I get 60 cycles out of the battery pack, I'll be happy.

I agree -- which is why I said "a resume geared toward the position, showing why you would be the best candidate". So yes, if you are nominated for the insurance committee and you work(ed) as a claims adjuster you would probably want to point that out on the resume.... but it likely would not need to include your days tending bar while you went to school 18 years ago, for example.
