Hi Darren,

My first vote will always be the Great Planes Patriot (40 size) if you can get your hands on one of the kits or a built one. Excellent flyer, relatively fast (though that depends on what you are use to) and rugged. Lots of different options as to how you can build it and power it.

Nitroplanes now has quite an extensive list of propjet ARF's as well. I have not had one myself, though most have said that the construction on them is good, but not all were designed for retracts or removable wings, so some modification is needed.

Juno R/C also offers an F-18 and F-20. The F-20 was originally sold through Direct Connections (which is where mine came from) and the F-18 through G&P Industries I believe.

The Great Planes F-14 is nice as well, and an excellent flyer, though not that fast. This kit was discontinued quite awhile ago, but every once and awhile a kit or partially built one will show up.

Prop Jett

Look over at RC Groups. There is a "Lykajet" for sale there.
These planes are SUPER fast and look pretty good. It was a magazine article in MAN at one time and you can order plans for it too.

Cermark F16 or F18, on a OS91FX with a Jett Jetstream pipe and 12x8 APC prop.

Both are lightweight glass fuselages and include air up/spring down retracts. Minimal assembly time, maximum fun factor in a scale looking ship.

Myzee,

I saw that Lykajet over on RCU as well. Apparently it is one of the models that was used in the MAN article. If it is, then they clocked this plane at about 187 mph coming out of a dive if my memory serves me right.

It was a hand launch version with just a skid under the engine.

I have the plans and a set of wing cores for it as well. Hopefully I get to building one, since there really isn't a whole lot to them, and I have a YS 45 RE just like they used in that prototype.

Here's a good thread about the Mig-21 over on RCU:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_24...tm.htm#2423720

I've been considering getting one of these as well, since the 21 is one of favourite planes, and would get me flying one while I tinker away at my design.

I had no trouble at all. I called and placed my order via web, but called it in and talked to them regarding shipping options. I picked the cheapest option, naturally.
