Re: good luck

I was out earlier today but the wind was blowing the snow too much for it to be any fun. Maybe tomorrow.

Re: good luck

Yep, i made it out for a few flights with my Avistar on skis, there was 5 members out flying at our field today, it was snowing pretty good and winds between 15-20kph, overall a nice day out, but not as nice as last year.

Re: good luck

I got out but the wind came up while I was in transit to the field. Take off was "an adventure' and so was landing. Landing approach ground speed was about walking speed. Plane touched down and a gust of wind took it up again, leveled it out and touched again, another gust took it up and I settled for letting it come to rest in the tall grass at the side of the strip.

Re: good luck

Well, our Frozen Finger Fun Fly in Pembroke was a great success!! Temp was mild(-3C) and winds were light. Snow started coming in later but a good time was had by all. As with all winter events there was the usual assortment of boo boo's. Planes nosing in. Not wanting to start etc. My own decided to start after a bit of tinkering. Trying to taxi with tricycle gear in light powder was interesting. Ended up pushing down on the tail to lift the nose and then giving her some throttle to get the nose to lift. In the air all was fine until...no throttle response!!! Hey...today's supposed to be about good luck??? So, while flying loops and eights trying to burn off fuel, I decided to make a few low passes and decide wether or not to try and get the prop to strike and stall out the motor. First pass...looks good. Decision made( it was not getting any warmer). Second pass....long high speed touch........no strike......and back up into the air. Settle in for the third attempt....down she comes.....skiis make contact.....flare just a bit...and success...prop strikes....motor stalls out and plane scoots off the end of the fiels into a drift....Happy landing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turns out my throttle line broke

So....today was about good luck after all
Any other day and I would probably have been making the trek to the burn barrell.

Happy New Year to all and here's looking to a great year of flying ahead!!!!!!!!

Cheers,
