The boyz came over to inspect the work and liked what they saw. Obviously they never built a Carden before because I had the turtledeck on the wrong side but it looks cool! Actually I just wanted to see if the old deck would fit properly and it will be a perfect fit of course!

Re: Carden 40% 260 Rebirth By Brendan

So now we can mate the motor box to the fuse sides but first we need to cut out the phenolic holes which is done at the rear and will be done for the wing next. I use the actual socket as the drill by hardening the end with cyano then sharpening with a knife inside and some sanding outside to give it a sharpish edge. Then after marking it in the proper place, I lay the fuse side down and cut it by rotating the socket like a drill with some balsa on the back side for it to cut into making a perfect hole. I will open it up very slightly for a little play later so we can set the phenolic squarely with lasers later.

Looks like the rebuild is coming along nicely. I used to have a Carden 260... I really miss it.
Hmmm maybe if I can find it the owner would like to sell it to me. Hey that is a great idea. I should follow up on that. Now where to start looking, that is the hard part. Someone must know where it is. Has anyone seen my Carden?

Dave,

We'll be sure to keep an eye out for it next season but NO promises as I believe it may have fallen into the hands of a Chop Shop and been redistributed somewhere in Norther opntario or Zimbabwe we arn't quite sure.

You think you miss it! The more I flew it, the more I liked it. What a nice flying plane it was ..... and will be once again, but ...... it will be sporting a complete new color scheme.

Well I got tired of seeing this thing sitting there and doing nothing so I added all the diagonal braces, the tailwheel plate and started adding cf bracing.

Re: Carden 40% 260 Rebirth By Brendan

While fiddling with the wing phenolic I noticed that the ply plates were a little off from the fuse side bracing and I sanded them a little wider to fit but did the wrong side So I made new ones that are also a little wider so the third motorbox side plate has more area to sit on making a stronger bond.
I also pinned the front of the first side former of the motorbox which will have a 1/4 balsa cover added later on. Makes this impossible to pop open at the joint and adds no weight.
I do wish that Carden would make tabs on the second side plate like they do on the first one rather than rely on a butt joint. It would make this a much stronger and more easily aligned addition. Hint Hint
