We had a fire extinguisher in out clubhouse long before electrics came out. Seen a few flooded glow engines light up over the last 50 yrs at the field. Trouble with alcohol is you can hardly see it burning in the daylight.

Imagine this: Lipo batteries have been around since, say 1895, and the wet-fueled I.C. engine has just recently come into use. Oh, the posts we'd be reading, the disaster videos we'd be watching- gasoline can be hazardous too, you know. Some people could burn a garage down with a curling iron (my daughter, for example, given the chance).
