Question different servo's in plane

Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
Hi.
Quick question.

I'm putting a taylorcraft 450 together and i have 2 e-flite S75 servo's in the wings for
ailerons.
My local HS only had 2 at the moment.
It calls for 4 S75's.
I have 2 hitec HS-81"s
Could i use these ?
They are a little bigger.
The plane would only need some triming to fit.
Or should i get the other two?

Thanks.

Barry.

HS81s are great servos and only a few extra grams. If they fit, by all means, use them. A little extra power from the servoes doesn't hurt either.

I take it this is the E-flite Taylorcraft, I have flowen this and it is a great flyer. As long as you put the servos in the way you say it will be no problem, just don't mix the servos on the ailerons. Enjoy the aircraft.

Yes, if you use one pair of matching servos in the wings and the other pair for rudder and elevators, it should be fine. I did that with my PZ Corsair when I replaced my aileron servos. Seems to work fine even though my new aileron servos are a touch faster than the elevators.

Adding to the above quote(s) HS81's are great little servos. Personally, I would use these servos for the ailerons and put the smaller ones on the other control surfaces.

Re: different servo's in plane

Thanks for the reply's.

I went and bought the two e-flite servos because the hitec ones would have been too hard to put in the ailerons.

In the body all i have to do is elongate the slots where the servos go in.

The aileron holes were needing to much modifying for me to do.

Im all for the KISS rule.

KEEP IS SIMPLE STUPID! LOL.

Ive had lots of practice with my cub and i wanted an aileron plane.

I'm going to give the supercub to my boy who's 10 yrs. old.

He's been practicing on FMS (and me)and is doing good.
