Well, the flying season is approaching but I've been too busy to build anything this winter I still have my trainer kicking around but I want to try something new this summer as well. The problem is I won't have a lot of time this summer. I know, I can build an ARF, but my trainer is an ARF already, besides I always think ARF's are overpriced and I'll feel better flying my own creation.

I've been tinkering with the idea of building an electric spad because I figure spads won't take much time to build, besides I figure flying electric won't require starting and cleaning up and also require less equipment than grow engines, which saves time.

What do you guys think about electric spads? Any suggestions on web sites ... etc I should check out? Any other ideas of having fast and cheap fun are really appreciated (other than rubber band powered planes).

Maybe I should stop flying all together this year, but for some reason I have this urge to go flying when the sun appears, don't know why.

I was going to build an electric fun fly spad it sounded like fun it is made of foam, It is on the spad forum somewhere, By the time I priced out the electric components with a mini rx it was over $300.00. so unless you got the stuff lying around its not cheap. But it would be fun.

A SPAD type electric plane for electrics has already been done some years ago. A plane known as the Folding Fyler was developed and sold in various colours. It was a basic coroplast fold and fly airplane and could be powered by an electric motor or a typical 1/2A glow engine. Norvel eventually took over the line and were selling from their web pages. I just checked, but no longer see it listed.
