Yeah well, If you didn't have a habit of butting in to threads interjecting why your chosen toy is so much better than the one being discussed or obvious attempt at being inflammatory like this thread you would get the benefit of the doubt.

David...no offence but your comment is somewhat hypocritical considering that you are flaming Spektrum in your signature. Some guys like Jeti, some Futaba or JR...it's personal choice. I highly doubt that one radio is significantly better than the other so don't buy into the hype.

I do have to note that the best RC pilot I have ever seen flies with a DX18. Of course, I'm talking about Jase Dussia.

Ya, right. I can have whatever I want in my signature. Ya don't see me butting in to new DX 20 threads saying such-and-such is a better radio.

Back on topic...

This Horus has my attention. However, jsparky's point has me concerned. I've had interference with Spektrum hardware and have only ever experienced glitching. Based on what jsparky is saying, if my ignition sheds some RF noise for whatever reason during a flight am I too expect a locked out receiver and presumably a lost plane if I'm using FrSky???

Re: FrSky Horus Tx first production run being delivered

I guess the question is not so much the transmitter but the receiver in any application as that is what is being affected. If the FRSky radios all use the same receiver design then I would have to think that the issue is in the receiver itself and not the transmitter. Total lockout is a more serious thing and glitches are another and one may get through with hopefully a successful landing with a glitching receiver.

An interesting topic until we actually get a Horus in hand to talk about.

I wonder if it was just thay one Rx indicating a possible faulty unit vs inherent problem?

If I read jsparky's post right he did try more than one receiver with the same result.

I get that a "leaky" ignition will cause issues with any rx, my concern is that the receiver had to be powered off and restarted to make it operable again...seems like a design issue, or is there some good reason for that?

In any case, the Americans that have the Horus in their hands are saying the initial hardware quality is among the best. If that proves to be true long term this could be a real sweet unit given the flexibility of the software.

Re: FrSky Horus Tx first production run being delivered

I've been flying the FRsky Taranis for 2 years, never an issue, and I use it on my 120cc planes as well as my foamy (winter plane). I've been a Beta Tester for the Horus and all I can say is, you'll love the radio.

If anyone wants to see a Horus in person and play with the sticks, it's currently in the hands of my buddy in Burlington making the rounds. I'll have it back this weekend and I'll be at the Toronto RCFC on Sunday flying my gassers.

Very solid radio, even in Beta format.

What's your take on the receiver lockout issue Joe?

Mountain out of a mole hill, is my take. Sensationalization sells on the Internuts.. LOL

Anyways, if you have a faulty setup, the outcomes are always unpredictable. At the Humber Field, 18Mz users have lost their airplanes flying in "Natural Null Zones" to the west of the field.

This weekend, another radio of another brand got a 5 second lockout at the Toronto RCFC Field when flying on the north east side of the field and it was a 42% Krill models extra (Big Bucks with a big buck radio).

On the same note, I have never experienced anything close to any lockout on any field, even flying in the same space as they were. So what's the real issue, really?

An assumption based on a single point of data....... (need I say more?)
