My new pre winter project
Hi guys and gals, well I picked up a new pre winter project the other day,
Gobal jets CT 114 Tutor Pro Arf, I got it from a great co flyer/rccanada're, Frank M. When Frank, said that I was next inline for the purchase, I couldn't get on the highway any faster. lol Frank is a great man, I got a great Plane. I am just looking around for what turbine I should use, I see many that some have used, I kinda like the rabbit or kingtech 80, I thought my moores was going to fit but to tight, needs to be less than 110 mm. I found this one online, check out the link, tell me if this is a good choice!!!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrSSbaWxcDM here is some pics of her. Paul |

Re: My new pre winter project
You have made a great selection.
Key points: -Keep it light -Install stall strips and use aileron reflex to make it stable. These things fly great on 15lbs so pick a turbine for it's low installed weight. Kev-o has a Wren 54 15 lb'er in his and its perfect. I'm sure he will chime in here. PaulD

LOL, I know you're being facetious, but being that Modelbau is back on the scene and selling engines again, in case you are considering the 500, I would wait a long time until positives are being said about it. They were one of the worst turbines going, they are just rehashed RAM500's which were ok, but not spectacular. Once FTE and Modelbau stuck their hands into it, they becamse great flame throwers, but lousy turbines. The Kingtech K80E, Merlin 90, the new P100 coming out, Wren 54 etc would all be good choices. I'm very impressed with the Kingtech's for the cost! Jeremy |

Re: My new pre winter project
One choice for me... the new Behotec JB100G
99mm diam, just over 1 kg and 22 lbs thrust. Internal kero start and temp probe. AJC

Re: My new pre winter project
Wren54,p70 are your best choices they are very light you have the global version which builds at least 1.5 lbs heavier than the jet legend version so IMO go the p70 it just fits . I have done two of these one jl and one global
There is a build thread on rcu where I have posted comments or you can email me directly kevfor@telus.net and I can forward pics etc. If you set it up right it's a great flyer That cockpit is nice but it's a tank make it removable before flight

Re: My new pre winter project
The new Behotec 100 is 100 grams lighter than the Jetcat P70. The Wren 54 is still lighter again than the Behotec, but a lot less thrust as well.
Just sayin.. AJC

Re: My new pre winter project
Hey Sundownee
How about the new Wren 100. 22 lbs thrust, 990 grams and 250mm x 89mm. Much smaller and lighter. Just to give you a broader perspective on what is out there. Jetcat is also coming out with a 100 class turbine. I don't know the specs though. Good luck with your decision. JetCrazy

Re: My new pre winter project
Pretty hard to beat a Kingtech K80 for thrust to price comparison.

Re: My new pre winter project
Kingtech is over 1.3 Kg though - you are already 1/2 pound heavier than the other options... if the plane is as weight critical as many say it is, could be an issue.

The length may be a problem though. I think the Kingtech is great value. PaulD
