I'm the representative for the IMAA chapter in the Edmonton, Alberta area. Our chapter (number 737: Meridian Giants) is affiliated with the Stony Plain flying club (Meridian Model Flyers). We have pretty much the minimum number of members for an IMAA chapter and I would like to see if we can get some more interest this year. Our flying club is quite active, with a good long grass field, well groomed. We have an event every year (the three day camp-out fun fly which is August 11-13 for 2006) that is also an un-sanctioned introduction to IMAA. I'm inviting any of you interested in IMAA to attend our next Meridian Model Flyers club meeting on February 7 at the Legion Hall in Stony Plain. The meeting is at 7:30pm and I'll be talking to IMAA interested people afterwards. I'll have application forms and some materials to admire, including a gas plane to examne. Set up on a gas plane is a little different than glow. Dues for IMAA are only $20 US per year, and gets the quarterly magazine to your door. It is worth it for the magazine alone. The IMAA web site (
http://www.fly-imaa.org) has the definition of an IMAA-legal plane, as well as rules for events (lots of safety and no competition). I would like to see you at our meeting, or you can of course call me at home. You do not have to be a member of the Stony Plain flying club to belong to our IMAA chapter, but you do need MAAC. Thanks. Mike Biedul, Stony Plain, Alberta
