What Prop??

I have a 1/5 Byron SU-26 with a OS91FX. I runnin a 15x6 APC on it now but I'd like more torque so I thought a 17x4 would do the trick. If anybody has experiance with this engine/prop combo, I'd like to hear what the results were.....

Ain't that a LOT of prop for a poor little 2 stroke? Seams a .91FS my swing that 17" but a little 2 stroke. My OS 1.08 2S is happy with a 15 x 6 or 16 x 6 but I think 17" would be too much for it.

Anyone else here have the "thrusthp" program? I have found it really useful for assessing different props before going out and buying one.

The 17x4 has about a 10% higher load than the 15x6. I think it will work just fine - especially if you are not adverse to trimming it little to 16.5x4

If you are OK with the speed drop due to the lower pitch, then by all means Give it a try! It will have the desired effect.

I would go with a 16x4wide APC. That will up the thrust for ya. I have used the wide props with great success on many engine.

Every prop chart that I have says a 14"X 4 or 14"X6 is the range for a 90 two stroke engine. So according to this, even your 15"X6 is slightly too large! If your looking for better performance, just drop down slightly in pitch, to say a 15"X 4.

As Jims says, even a 1.08 2 stroke takes a max of 16"X 6. I would think that going to 17" anything would load your engine down too much!
