Want to make sure I have everything straight for the sequence.
Figure 1. is just called a figure N, the point rolls are stopped just long enough to see it then roll to the next point of the roll, correct. The pushed radius at the top doesn't have to match the pulled radius at the bottom, correct. Not sure if the two up lines must equal each other....thinking not.
Figured out Figure 10. Reversing loops, the two loops have to be equal radius per 8.7.4c.
I guess figure 1 is the only one leaving me wondering.
And as for figure 9 we'll have to see what happens this spring.
These thumbs don't move too fast, should make for an interesting season.

Lots of expo and make it all big. Gives you more time to think.

You'll do fine.

Re: 2017 Sportsman sequence

Hi Dave - just to help a bit.

Figure 1 - figure N (in reverse) - the radii do not need to match as these are all "corner angles" drawn as hard corners, but they are flown with a smooth constant radius.

The 2 of 4 on the first upline - make sure to show a clear perceptible pause - or as some would say "show the point". It just needs to be clear and perceptible and not drawn out. Many guys hurry the pause but you always want to make sure the judges see it or it may look like a half roll rather than a 2 of 4. If the judges don't see the pause they could zero the maneuver.

The lines can be of different lengths - no deduction criteria - but fly it so it looks like the figure depicted on the Aresti.

Figure 10 - Reversing Loop - yup the first radius should match the radius of the rest of the loop. Many us pull that first entry radius too tight and don't match the rest of the loop - noticeable difference is a one point deduction. The most common error is drawing a line between the entry radius and the reverse into the loop. Of course you are pulling the first radius then pushing the rest of the loop to the bottom half roll. Avoid drawing a line between or that is a minimum 2 point deduction. Also as soon as you get to the bottom of the outside (pushing) loop you want to do the half roll right away and not draw a line. Drawing a line there is another minimum 2 point deduction.

Figure 9 - positive snap - you can do it - get together with Rick and Don - they are "snap-masters". Proper set up of throws (more aileron, less elevator and less rudder)

Practice practice practice - you can do it. Expo as Brendan said and SLOW DOWN !

Re: 2017 Sportsman sequence

Thanks Guys, I've played with a few maneuvers on the sim....now that it's working again and worked on not adding a line between the two loops. Sim's not as good as the real thing but sure helps me with the rudder corrections; it gets the old noodle wrapped around inputs.
