Was just wondering if anyone has tried the new Turnigy Graphene batteries. They advertise that they stay cooler under heavy load. I hope this keeps them from puffing up.
I've been switching to Thunder Power batteries from Turnigy, certainly making a dent in the wallet. But for testing new planes, the less expensive ones do ok.

Good article in hackaday.com on the turnigy graphene batteries. If true graphene are heavier and slightly larger which should be the reverse according to hackaday.
Also refer it to a bit of sales hype....... I would keep an eye on them and maybe Dian the road there could be possibilities. If the Turnigy A spec have the correct sizes , So far I am impressed with these. Hold voltage well under load, fairly light.

There is a huge thread on RC Groups about them. There is a couple of Canadians who are "beta" testers. So far the results seem really good. The extra weight appears to be offset by the better discharge rates.

Some people have been the torture testers, high charge and discharge rates, and not any decline in performance.

Having tried many HK brands thanks to their prices I hope these new batteries don't disappoint (like the others did).
I was offered one of these packs to test. Kind of pointless sending me a 4S 2200 pack when they promised a 6S 5000. It will eventually fly in a friends jet so any test results will be passed on then.
The fancy packaging it came in was worthy of a fine mens cologne or French brandy. Hardly impressing me for "value".

Sounds like better performance than many of the other line of Turnigy batteries but at an increase in weight fir starters and size is a bit bigger . Dud a comparison on same S Lunt and very similar capacity and the weight was about 25% higher for the graphenes. Ie 405 grams vs 515 grams. So if weight is not an issue and the high discharge rates are needed , then they may work but pricing is on the high end if the Turnigy line.

So far rcmodelreviews had shown they are above and beyond everything else. Other tests that have completed more cycles of charge/discharge are showing better retention and performance.

With 800+ cycles available they will outperform and ROi better than any other lipo battery available.

There is no way a battery will last 800 flights. Putting a battery on a charger and cycler is not putting 1/4 the strain on it as compared to an actual flight with high discharge rates.
Believe whatever you like but remember that saying "if it sounds too good to be true. ...."

As per my posting #2 on Hackaday.......I go with 20% advertising when from HK and 50% when from other sources and then make up my mind who is more factual with the other 30%....LOL As for the 800 cycles a lot depends just how low the battery was discharged, how high a discharge rate and how fast a recharge done and battery temperatures during all this. If you use their maximum discharge and recharge rates ; I doubt whether you will get 800 cycles. Again advertising .

I've got zippy standard packs that are still running 500+ cycles. I think I hit 5 minutes instead of 6 but they are really still well performing. Granted, since my early days of beating the crap out of batteries now I'm careful with my packs and I get (so far) 4+ years....

Also learning what c rating and flying time and temp dependant performance is needed makes a big difference. A newbie or idiot with a fast wallet won't know or care to look after lipos.
