Re: a battey question

Depends on if it has an esc or msc. If a msc then it passes the voltage directly to the other components so yes you could fry the servo at a minimum. If an esc, see what it's rated for.

Why not just get a 4000mah nimh battery instead? No memory and it will last twice as long.

Re: a battey question

I'm sure you can order from an online store and have it delivered??? A lot of online stores have free shipping for a minimum order. For instance, hobbywholesale will ship for free for orders over $25. Is there a reason you limit yourself to what's locally available?

Besides, nicad isn't even really made anymore, almost everything has switched over to nimh or lipo. I can't believe a hobby store that sells nicad doesn't have nimh available.

Re: a battey question

Would switching to a 2S LiPo work in it's place? If you don't have the support gear, (balance charger) that might not be an option and without a LiPo compatible ESC sytem to monitor your pack use you may need to run on time rather than wait till it fades, (by then too late).

The energy density on LiPo packs would be better, giving you much higher capacity and currents than any nickel based storage medium. Lighter, as well.

Re: a battey question

ESC = electronic speed controller
MSC = Mechanical speed controller

Re: a battey question

A msc will have a servo that controls a slider which then controls motor speed. An esc will be fully electronic, no servo.

Heres a pic of a msc.
