I was wondering if there is a good nitro trainer preferably RTF kit that would be good for a newbie?

I think that the best trainer available for the money is the Nexstar.

Comes with everything ready to fly. Plane is completely built. All radio equipment, engine, tank, wheels, receiver ....everything is installed. Comes with a four channel radio ( Tx) and an auto pilot...even comes with a flight simulator so you can practice and get use to the plane on your computer before you fly. Everything is top quality!

All you have to do is charge the batteries, add fuel and away you go. Its a really nice looking plane too and flys absolutely beautifully right out of the box. AND get this....If your flying with a qualified instructor and you manage to somehow crash the plane, the MFG will replace it free of charge.

It happened to one of my students. His plane crashed so I wrote him a letter explaining the failure that caused the crash, he took it to the Hobby store where he purchased it and they sent it out to the manufacturer and it was indeed replaced within a couple of weeks.....FREE! Thats a heck of a gaurantee!

And best of all, it can be purchased now for around the $400 mark for everything. Check it out at your Local Hobby Store!

Just a note of caution: Be very careful when buying used equipment unless you know for a certain what your getting. Better yet, take a friend who knows RC equipment with you to check out used stuff before you buy to make sure things like the engine are in good shape. Don't get me wrong. Most folks here on RCCanada only sell good used stuff, but unless you are familiar with airframes, engines, radio equipment etc, you best take caution and seek experienced qualified help in buying used stuff!

Just MHO and I don't mean any offence to anyone, just trying to help!

Yep, Gary is definately right. I just purchased a PT-40, SuperTigre, and a used Futaba Sport radio (with flight pack) in March of this year. After assemly (mine was a kit), the total cost was $500. (give or take alittle).

And I still dont have the flgiht simulator. (its on its way though! )

The only thing that is missing from the Nexstar RTF, is the enjoyment and satisfaction of assembling, and flying a plane that YOU built. But, a kit could always be a good second plane.

Shawn.

Couldn't agree more. Some instructors at our club complain about them but I don't see anything wrong with it. The students like them.

Great Hobbies has the Nexstar for $40 off right now.
