whats the best thing for filling seams or voids on fiberglass cowl that wont crack

SuperFil is a 2-part epoxy that has nice working characteristics and is light (about 1/3 the weight of automotive Bondo). It's pretty hard, sands nice, thinnable with alcohol. You can see it and buy it from www.stits.com in the US, but any aviation supply house will carry it: for example Goulet Aircraft Supply here in Edmonton. It is perfect for filling fiberglass parts. It's used a lot in full-size aircraft repairing and fairing. It is only moderately useful structurally; it is designed as a filler. It is long curing - at least overnight. Hint: Put it on at night and use rough sandpaper in the morning before fully cured. Be careful not to sand too much, as it is really still somewhat soft before the full 24 hours. Then finish sand after a full 24 hours. Warmer temps accelerate curing but too hot (like a heat gun) makes it run. My workroom is usually about 20 degrees C. I also use it for making panel lines by laying a piece of masking tape where the line should be, laying a second piece of tape right over it to double the thickness, fairing Superfil over the tape, letting it set, then sanding down to the tape. When you pull the tape you have a nice clean raised panel line. Voila!
