I have never owned a Jet and was wondering
how much harder they would be to fly then a
standard plane? Do they manuver good? Are
they fast? Would you reccomend it? Is the
Corsair considered a Jet? Is it a good plane?

Jets are not a good way to get started in the hobby... most are fairly complicated to build and fly compared to a trainer or sport model (with a few exceptions) and in general are much faster, and do not make a good trainer.

The costs are also a lot more for kits, engines and gear. If you are starting of like you say, into the hobby of model airplanes, you would be better suited with allmost anything else but a jet. Once you get comfortable flying a trainer, and then a low wing sport plane, you could step up to a prop jet.

Hey thanks for your responses. Are their any other
tips on what I should do seeing how Im just starting
out? What would you recommend for my first plane?
Should I get a radio with like 6 channels or get a
basic one with just 4?

First planes in my opinion would probably be an eagle 2 or telemaster 40, or any high wing aircraft designed for training purposes. As far as transmitters are concerned I would go for something that will grow with you as you progress. I would think a 6 channel would be the minimum I would buy

Most of the Jet guys tend to use PCM radios, so you may just want to stick with a 6-ch FM for now. Having 2 radios later on isn't such a bad idea anyway. For sure get 6 channels to start with though, as a 4 channel will run out if usefulness in a hurry as you move on to more complicated models.

I started many years ago on a Eagle-2. Its still an excellent trainer, although I'm seeing more and more LT-40's at the field now. From there, move on to a hotter low wing sport plane (my 2nd was a Goldberg Chipmunk). After mastering that level, you'd probably be ready for a Facet/AV8R style of trainer jet without much risk of being overwhelmed.

Have fun!

If you want to go nuts and stay relatively cheap, get a 20-size House of Balsa Mustang from a swap meet, clip the wing by 1 rib per side, cut off the underside scoop, leave the canopy off the top, don't install the gear, and mount a piped quickie-40 on it! Hand launching is pretty hairy but If you can master a plane that's not meant to fly in those conditions, flying one that is designed to go fast will be a dream in comparison.

I had one like this many years ago, it was by far the most fun 'go-fast' training I ever had. I'm sure you can all guess what happened to it eventually...
