aluminum welding/soldering
If you are interested in doing some aluminum welding at home, all you will need is a little practice and a stainless wire brush, and also a Mapp gas torch with a fine tip(Canadien Tire)If you were at Toledo , there is a fellow from Michigan that is there every year selling aluminum welding wire. His address is ( sorry, no address) but I do have his phone number1-248-682-8778. He sells the stuff for (18 rods, 18 inches long, for 11 cents per inch,$35.00 per pack). The same stuff can be had from Aladden Welding Supply,1300 Burton Street, Grand Rapids Michigan Zip code MI49507.not too sure of their price.........
After a bit of practice, you will be able to make mufflers almost as good as Bisson, and you can custum build them for any plane or size motor.. The thing you have to do when welding aluminum, is to clean all the parts that are to be welded together with a STAINLESS BRUSH., as there is no flux, but you have to get all the crud and film off the meterial before yo put the heat to it to weld................ Hope this helps..... Al |
