Cubic Wing Loading (CWL) -
Does anyone in the group have a good grasp on Cubic Wing Loading - I have been trying to learn more about this less known aspect of model design and prediction.
An informative article appeared in the 'Ampeer' newsletter a while ago and I have managed to get another one or two articles on it and it's quite a fascinating subject. If anyone expresses interest, I will post info on the few articles I've found although I have not yet Googled it - sometimes a tedious exercise unless you can narrow the search, which I have not yet learned to do! |

Wow - just Googled CWL and put +'s between the words and got more references than I could read in the rest of my life!!
If you're interested, try it! |

I've used this web page as a reference to other formulas I've got, and manufacturers specs, and sort of take an average. Not precise science, but my planes seem to be close. Daren

Re: Cubic Wing Loading (CWL) -
Thanks Daren, there's a lot of good stuff there but only two paragraphs of very general info on CWL that I could find.
A lot of the stuff is very useful otherwise. When time permits I intend to go down the lists of what Google found - I've already retrieved an article they list from a 1997 M.A.N. mag that discusses it but not in depth. The article in Ampeer newsletter by Kenneth Myers is very good, as are all his writings there. Someone suggested Wiki too, which I'll try but their articles are generally of a very basic nature. Patently too esoteric a subject - the threads DEAD - I'll sound 'the last post'!!! Last edited by Spitball; 10-08-2009 at 07:46 AM. |
